Prof. Dr. Wilhelm Schäfer appointed as a new member of the National Academy of Science and Engineering
On October 23, 2013, Prof. Wilhelm Schäfer was officially elected during this year's general member's meeting as a new member of Germany's National Academy of Science and Engineering (acatech). This makes him the third CRC 901 member, after the professors Burkhard Monien and Franz Josef Rammig, to receive such recognition.
acatech is a federal- and state-funded national academy and a voice of science and technology, in Germany and abroad, which stands for a vigorous exchange of ideas and knowledge between science and industry, politics and the public. The members are accepted into the Academy on the basis of their outstanding academic achievements and high reputation. They come from engineering, natural sciences, and also the humanities and social sciences – acatech covers a wide range of issues in technical science and interdisciplinary fields.
We sincerely congratulate Wilhelm Schäfer for this prestigious award!
